Manual iris lenses are more versatile than fixed iris lenses. This is because they allow manual adjustment of the iris. You can then adjust the iris to best suit the lighting conditions. As the adjustment is still manual, it is best suited to areas where lighting levels remain fairly constant. If a lens is required where light levels change constantly (eg outdoors) a auto iris lens is recommended!
