A PERVERT who cut through a bathroom window flyscreen to film a teenage girl in the shower was spooked when his mobile phone rang.

The Mooroobool resident was showering at her family’s Hadrian Ave house about midnight on Wednesday when she heard the phone ring and turned to see the man holding a camera and leering through the window.

The man is believed to have fled across the road to a nearby park.

The incident comes just weeks after police warned a camera pervert was targeting women and young girls in Kanimbla and Redlynch.

In those cases the offender cut a small hole in flyscreens, which he used to insert a spy camera.

Cairns Sgt Jim Montague said pol-ice were investigating whether the same culprit was involved.

"At this stage it’s too early to tell if they’re linked," he said.

"But it’s the same modus operandi. The flyscreen or gauze on the window was cut through."

Wednesday’s night’s incident has sickened Hadrian Ave residents.

"It’s very frightening, really, really frightening," mother-of-two Sue said.

"I have a daughter about the same age and it just makes you really worried about the whole thing happening to you."

Bar worker Jamieson, 38, said the thought of someone hanging around his family’s house had made him more security-minded. "Well, it really makes you quite sick," he said.

"It makes you double check and triple check your doors.

"Why would you want and go and do something like that?"
