A SCOTS tourist is fighting for his life in Australia after being attacked by a boy thought to be as young as 10.

Mark Willis is in a critical condition in a Sydney hospital after being set upon by the gang of youngsters, following a row in the city's Rockdale area.

The 25-year-old is on a 12-month working visa with his girlfriend Jane McLean, and had been due to start a trip around the country when the attack happened.

It is believed a gang of around four boys aged between 10 and 15 could be responsible - and police are now studying CCTV footage from cameras in the area in a bid to identify and find the attackers.

Detective Superintendent Helen Begg from St George police said: "We certainly believe that there was one punch that has caused these injuries.

"The ages of the people that have committed this offence are very young. I'm very concerned.

"It was the very early hours of the morning. I would seek any assistance from the children or their parents in bringing closure to this matter.

"We have footage of the bus and from the Rockdale train station and that's giving us a good indication at this stage of the investigation,"
